In the fall of 2017, Basics general manager Lynnette Wirth heard about A1 beta-casein free milk from a customer. While searching for a distributor she discovered Trust Local Foods - and an exciting new partnership was born!
Trust Local Foods was founded by Fred Depies and his late wife Kathleen. Fred has been active in the northeastern Wisconsin sustainable agriculture and food co-op scene for decades.
They saw an opportunity and a challenge - to bring local, small-batch foods to rural-encased, highly populated areas that are mostly served by conventional grocery stores, where local foods are the exception rather than the rule.
Trust Local Foods now acts as distributor, communicates between the farmers/producers and their customers, markets and demos for over 40 small Wisconsin sustainable food brands! Fred and Kathleen's son Aaron is co-owner and current head of operations.
